Hello and welcome to HoopTrekTravel!
Who is the Hoop Treker?
Amiee is a writer, hiker, hooper, traveler, runner, climber, skier, backpacker, dreamer based out of Salt Lake City, Utah. Having grown up in the semi-flatlands of Wisconsin, a trip to Alaska as a teen turned her onto the mountains. After hiking the 33-mile Chilkoot Trail from Dyea, Alaska, to Bennett, British Columbia with her dad and aunt at age 16 she was hooked on adventure travel. After college she beelined for the West and found a home in Salt Lake City, the most excellent home base for exploring the west.
In August 2009, Amiee decided to leave her full-time job to pursue a life of full-time wanderings and writing. She wandered her way over to Colorado to intern at Trail Runner Magazine and then stumbled upon a travel writing course with the Matador Network and acquired a wealth of knowledge on social media uses and web writing. As a writer she has written about outdoor gear, adventure travel, environmental issues, and more. Now she is the Salt Lake City local expert for NileGuide and writes the Travel Gear Blog with the BootsnAll network. Delve into her work here:
